A Note from My Heart

Hello Reader,

I haven’t been as active with my newsletter lately. I took time away to be with my mother during the last couple of weeks of her life, and then to mourn her passing.

I will always mourn her. Some days, I remind myself that she is in a better place, free from dementia and a failing body. Other days, I struggle to focus and want to do nothing but cry because I miss seeing her and hearing her laugh. I’m crying as I write this. I miss her terribly.

My mother was the person who first introduced me to art. She was creative and loving, and she helped open a door that became such an important part of my life. I carry that gift with me every time I sit down to paint.

I know grief will stay with me, but so will her influence. Through my work, I can continue to honor her memory—to celebrate the creativity she nurtured in me and the love she gave so freely.

Thank you for giving me the time and grace to be with her and to grieve. I’m grateful to be here with you again, carrying her with me in all that I create.

With love,
Leslie

But even while my focus has been pulled in other directions, some pretty exciting things have been happening in my art world—and I’ve been looking forward to finally sharing them with you. Apparently, I’m going...

Unfortunately, an unexpected family emergency pulled me away for several days, and I wasn't able to share the final newsletter as planned. Shop the Summer Studio Sale Because of that, I'd hate for anyone to miss the opportunity to take advantage of the special pricing. As a thank you for your patience and understanding, I've decided to extend my Summer Studio Sale through Friday,...

Hello Reader, It's my birthday! 🎉 Birthdays always make me pause and reflect on how grateful I am for the people who have supported this incredible journey as an artist and teacher. As a thank you for being part of my email community, I'm offering my upcoming live Zoom workshop on Thursday, July 30 for just $50 (regularly $65). Values First:...
